Holson's piece is written from the angle of the towns people and thier reaction to the sudden fame that Napolean Dynamite brought to thier town. She was looking for the feelings that the residents of this rural idaho town had after being put on the map.She did her research over the phone because of the direct quotes and person conversations. This is relevant to place because, she talked to residents of the town that live in "the place", and got there perspective on how the place had change.

history in an oral format
Spiegelmans "Maus" is a great example of an oral history. One the main criteria that creates ambience of an oral history is the interview. In Maus the voice of the story is from the perspective of the son interviewing the father mouse. Another criteria of an oral history that is shown in Maus is the history of events that took place in a certain location. This is shown on page 14 when father mouse describes the moving of the mountains and the strain put on the bodies of the participants of this event.

say whaaaat?
I am going to integrate information into my piece like a whirlwind from hell. I dont think a whole lot will change but it will become more cohesive unit and become an unstoppable force of literary power.
Colors
In the piece " Black Men in Public Spaces" Brent Staples writes how the public perspective of his ethnicity is recieved through other ethnicities words and actions. The quotation " a mugger who is clearly screwing up his nerve to do more than ask for money" is a clear example of Staples view that his ethnicity in the public eye, which was mainly caucasian, was predisposed to assault and mug. This line is introduced by another damning fact which is the name of the book it has been borrowed from;"My Negro Problem- And ours" ties into Staples narrative flawlessly and just shows that the things he described in his memior more creditable. I would not change the delivery of any of the information in this narritive due to the fact it flows well and it is from the heart.

The Stone Stallion
The section of 'The Stone Horse' I am particularly drawn to lies in Lopez's part 3 on pages 10 -12. This section is reflective and emotional description and it touches me more than any other part of this piece. I believe that experinces are more so what you can take from them, rather than what happens and lines such as 'I could not write down what I was thinking when I was with the horse. It would have seemed disrespectful, and it would have required another kind of attention.' linking to all of the thoughts this horsely encounter brought upon him just shows that he truely grew from this experince. Thiis why this section meant the most to me.
