Colors

In the piece " Black Men in Public Spaces" Brent Staples writes how the public perspective of his ethnicity is recieved through other ethnicities words and actions. The quotation " a mugger who is clearly screwing up his nerve to do more than ask for money" is a clear example of Staples view that his ethnicity in the public eye, which was mainly caucasian, was predisposed to assault and mug. This line is introduced by another damning fact which is the name of the book it has been borrowed from;"My Negro Problem- And ours" ties into Staples narrative flawlessly and just shows that the things he described in his memior more creditable. I would not change the delivery of any of the information in this narritive due to the fact it flows well and it is from the heart.
